Q-Lab's Sean Fowler is one of the organizers for the upcoming Automotive Corrosion Symposium, presented by the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) and held in Detroit, MI on 31 Mar and 01 Apr. This exciting event brings together industry experts from automotive OEMs, material suppliers, paint suppliers and Tier 1 suppliers to foster communication within the automotive industry and address industry-wide corrosion issues.
Sean notes that, "In Europe, there are venues for the automotive industry to discuss corrosion issues, but there haven't been in regular events like this in North America. AMPP (formerly NACE) holds great technical symposia, but the topics are very broad and focused on other industries. A few years ago, RISE KIMAB of Sweden organized a successful automotive corrosion symposium in the U.S., and some of us from the corrosion testing community felt that we should take up the effort and organize one using U.S. resources. Hopefully, some momentum comes from the event and we can hold these at least every other year going forward."
